I have always loved baking since I was a little girl. One of the first things I remember making was homemade yeast donuts. I did pretty good with that so I went on to making bread. Once I figured out I had knack for baking, I kept trying to whip up different creations.
I admit not everything I baked when I was young came out the way it was supposed to. I didn’t realize at that time that baking truly is a science. Fast forward, and just before graduating high school, I recall saying I wanted to culinary school.
Life happened and culinary school didn’t happen after graduating high school. Instead, it wasn’t until I had gone through a divorce and realized, I needed to do something for me…something that I always wanted to do but hadn’t yet accomplished. So, this is when I made the decision culinary school!
I graduated culinary school with a degree in Food & Beverage Management as well as another degree in International Baking and Pastry. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to learn from many talented chefs and eventually opened my own bakery. I specialized in custom cakes and sugar art as I seemed to gravitate toward that type of baking.
Now, funny I actually work at a law office during the day as a paralegal and keep my baking more as my side gig. The reason is you can really get burned out with making cakes. I think it comes more from those times when you pour your heart into a cake and get that one customer who is never satisfied or a Bridezilla! These days I pick and choose which cake orders I take.
Tied into my love of All Things Cake is BLOGGING! I came to realize that there are a lot of cake blogs out there. My blog is not only about cakes, but it’s about living the Sweet Life! Food, Family and Florida Living is what my blog is all about.
